While there’s no gameplay in the trailer, there’s still plenty to dissect. Novels, comics, and even audiobooks have already explored this era, but Eclipse will be the first video game to be placed in this segment of the Star Wars timeline. The High Republic period, not to be confused with the Old Republic, was set hundreds of years before The Skywalker Saga, and was the golden age of the Republic and the Jedi Order. Most likely, it will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, but it seems unlikely that it will launch on PS4 and Xbox One. Star Wars Eclipse: How to PlayĬurrently, we have no information on which platforms will get Star Wars Eclipse. Since we still haven’t seen any updates about a year after the initial trailer, you’d be wise not to expect anything soon. The company is also reportedly having issues with existing development tools that don’t quite fit in with Eclipse. Developer Quantic Dream is currently struggling to hire staff (Opens in a new tab), possibly due to the involvement of controversial studio head David Cage. Reputable leaker Tom Henderson claimed in December 2021 that Star Wars Eclipse “is believed to be at least about 3-4 years away”. Rumors surrounding the game also indicate that the game’s development has taken a slow start. This may indicate that we are at least two years away from playing the game. All we know at this point is that the game is “currently in the early stages of development,” according to an article on Star Wars website (Opens in a new tab). No new information has come from Quantic Dream or Lucasfilm Games since the initial trailer was dropped.
